The CENTENARIANS anthology centers around a personal journey of discovery, alongside our country's most enthralling elder voices. Chapter One, featuring Vaudeville performers Joane Rogers and Louise Sarafian, is now streaming independently on www.100.film

(Miami, FL) — Centenarians, who have witnessed first-hand more time than most people can even fathom, are the center of NewMemory's latest production. Miami's diverse population inspired filmmakers Michael Cantalupo and Andriy Kyryllov to shed light on society's potential collective future; through the perspective of humans that have lived for over a century. Florida, a state that embodies retirement, is home to over 4,000 living Centenarians. Cantalupo and Kyryllov's new anthology attempts to lift the veil on the wisdom this population has been harvesting throughout the years.

Joane Rogers, the first Centenarian we meet in the series, currently lives in Tamarac, FL, and was born in Manhattan, New York in 1917. The 103-year-old former Vaudeville dancer detailed her efforts of staying current on new technology, Frank Sinatra's 0.25 cent performances, and the personal immeasurable value of a lifelong friend. Joane plainly detailed to the young filmmakers that she "doesn't think of death" and acknowledges that she still has so much to learn from this life.

Hearing Joane and her best friend Louise support each other and plan for the future provides a disconnected younger generation with a reminder of what life can be. Joane and Louise's humble perspectives are all the more resounding through the lens of two women who have experienced, what can only be described as, meaningful lives.

There is a psychological theory behind the importance elders can play in our current society. As we have "improved" from our 20th-century roots, society's progressive alienation has bred alternate forms of human consciousness and community connections; a phenomenon foreign to those who lived decades ago.

Dr. Alexander Batthyany, Director of the Viktor Frankl Institute and World Leading psychologist has stated that if given the proper platform, Centenarians can be "wonderful for a society currently riddled by existential frustration, indifference, and wide-spread demoralization crises".

Chapter One is streaming now on www.100.film, and around the corner for Chapter Two, Cantalupo and Kyryllov will invite us to spend time with the late Civil Rights Icon and owner of the Miami Times, Mr. Garth C. Reeves Sr. The refreshing take of these individuals, who have lived 50+ years longer than their life expectancy at birth, are not only current but all the wiser in a modern-day subtext.

The "Centenarian Universe" hopes to grow with the stories of your fellow family members and loved ones, who have crossed the threshold into a century-long life; in hopes to learn from our elders, about the future.

Cantalupo is best known for his on-camera work on TPS, a YouTube channel with over 1M Subscribers. In 2019, he left the channel to unite with Kyryllov, a Ukrainian cinematographer, to explore meaningfulness in mass media, and pay homage to their grandparents.
